This is my very first time to try on the Lou Wong (Nga Choi Gai) although I have been to Ipoh a couple of times, simply because Ipoh having too much of the delicious foods, example, Foh San dim sum, Meng Court dim sum, white coffee (Nam Heong), Sin Yoon Loong, Soy Bean, 味不同海鮮坊 & etc.
So, back to the main star today – Lou Wong Bean Sprouts Chicken (Nga Choi Gai). It is actually similar to Hainanese Steamed Chicken, just that it is eaten together with a plate of bean sprouts.
The chicken just done right with firm, juicy and flavorful meat. Even the chicken’s skin has a tender & slippery smooth texture too.
Bean Sprouts – seasoned with some pepper, light soya sauce and sesame oil. I was told that the reason why Ipoh is famous with its bean sprouts is because they are fat due to better water quality here.
We also ordered some of Lou Wong’s famous fish ball & meat ball. They were quite big in size, had a bouncy and springy texture. Nice!!
The above dishes is come together with rice or koay teow (rice white noodle). I in fact looking for porridge, which I think should be the perfect combination. But too bad they do not serve actually.
